Hi All. Thank you for being flexible with the room assignment last night. Our new room will be a computer lab, room 4024. Below are the instructions for the homework assignments from last night.
Remember, all content related to our course will be found on the class wiki (not in Blackboard). You can access the class wiki at: http://tie300fall2012.wikispaces.com. Don't forget to review last night's powerpoint (found on the wiki) to help with your blog posts.
1. Be sure to review the syllabus. Pages 4-6 include the schedule and the assignment descriptions as well as our online sessions. All assignment descriptions will also be placed on the class wiki.
2. Add your comments to the Corkboard Me page (address on the homepage of the wiki). There are 3 questions. Click anywhere on the corkboard to open up a blank post-it to place your answer on. Click on the little post it above the big one to change the colors.
3. Check your NLU email for an invitation to join the class wiki. Accept the invitation so you have editing rights. If you do not see the invitation please let me know so I can resend it.
4. Go to blogspot.com (also known as blogger.com). You'll need to have a Google Account in order to set up a blog. If you have an existing Google Account you may use that. If not, follow the directions. Remember to write down the name of your blog so you don't forget!
6. Sign in to wikispaces.com (you should have been prompted to join Wikispaces when you accepted the invitation to our class wiki). Go to http://tie300fall2012.wikispaces.com/Students and click "edit". Fill in your name and a link to your blog URL. Click "save".
Some additional comments:
-Don't wait too long to get started on your "Tech in Ed" presentation. You can begin at any time! I noticed that some of you decided to select the same topic. This is fine, however please note that this is an individual project that needs to be done independently. The topics are listed on the wiki at: http://tie300fall2012.wikispaces.com/Tech_in_Ed_Presentations. If you decide you would like to change your presentation (if someone else has the same one) please let me know. If you were absent, please email me so you can select a topic.
Finally, a reminder that all of this is due by the start of class next Thursday. Remember, the September 20th class is "online" (meaning I'll send you the assignments and you will be responsible for getting the work completed independently- there will be no formal class on campus).
